Sad faic

Posted by Rig May. 4, 2008 @ 7:05 PM EDT

My mp3 player broke.

It fell off my desk - like, a three foot drop. Apparently it can't handle that sort of thing. The hard drive platter shattered in its case, and now it makes a shicka-shicka sound when I shake it. That's not healthy. :(

What mp3 player should I get next? Not an iPod, plz.

Edit: I should probably specify what I had. It was a 5-year-old iRiver H140 - I bought it for its CD-quality WAV recording and optical in/out ports, as well as the fact that it can play ANY FORMAT YOU WANT.
They don't make 'em anymore though :((((

May. 4, 2008 | 9:35 PM AlexPerson says:

I was going to say iPod because they are nigh indestructible but then I read the last sentence.

May. 5, 2008 | 1:32 AM Rig responds:

It was a 5-year-old iRiver that broke. iPods self-destruct after 3 years so that you buy a new one.

May. 4, 2008 | 10:26 PM ronay says:

ipods are cool and you sould go a DM2
it a music maker. DM2s are a mixman
DJ system there like very cool to.

but i don't have a DM2 and i wish
i had a DM2 but i don't.

May. 5, 2008 | 1:31 AM Rig responds:

Oh noes!

I have a zen, they are pretty good. You would not believe the beatings this thing has gotten and survived. stand up too fast with my headphones wrapped around my foot or something and this motherfucker will go flying at the speed of sound, smash into a 2x4 then land on concrete literally without even a scratch. I heard zens have better video quality, battery life and are cheaper than iPods as well. The zen I have kind of sucks though, make sure you know what you're getting, mine doesn't have a shuffle or loop feature which should be fucking mandatory.

May. 5, 2008 | 1:31 AM Rig responds:

It DOESN'T? I thought they all had those features...
Yeah, I had a Zen Micro for a few years, then it literally froze on me - I was using it outside in the cold a lot and I guess the hard drive formed ice crystals or something. haha

But it worked fine otherwise :D

GO DIE IN A FIRE YOU PIECE OF SH-
O wait I'm not a spammer...
I've got an iPod mini, and it's coo' but it has no colour (nostalgia of the gameboi lul) and no video/picture support. But it plays music well enough.
I think my brother's got a samsung and it's pretty awesome (I think it was 30GB) my mini's only 4 :'(
You could probably get an iPod for free if you see an ad for one on the internet.
Otherwise, maybe just shop around till you find something you're wlling to pay for that'll do what you want.

May. 5, 2008 | 1:30 AM Rig responds:

Yeah, I want another iRiver. But they don't make the one I like anymore :(((

May. 5, 2008 | 1:37 AM alias-hack says:

Well, I can't even figure out how to get the goddamn clock to change so I'm an idiot, but seriously, if you tell me how to put a song on loop I'll vote 5 every day on every song you have (this is a lie).

May. 5, 2008 | 1:44 AM Rig responds:

A lie? I don't serve liars >:(

Nah, I don't know for sure if yours has it, but Google might help...

May. 5, 2008 | 8:03 AM EvilJesus says:

Buy one with tons of memory so you can rave where ever. Take a look around some places, sony does some pretty neat stuff.

May. 5, 2008 | 12:29 PM Rig responds:

Will do.

May. 5, 2008 | 11:34 AM Greeksta-69 says:

This is what you do...

Find a broken mp3 player or if walmart has the one you already have just go buy a new onethen replace it with your broken one and take it back and say it dosent work.

You get a brand new one free. <3

May. 5, 2008 | 12:28 PM Rig responds:

But then I'd have two of them. Besides, they don't make my mp3 player anymore. :(

May. 5, 2008 | 1:18 PM Cryoma says:

I use a Samsung Cellular Telekinetic Phonular Device.
(Cell Phone for short)
Just get a gig or two in a memory card and stick it in your phones pooper, most phones come with a headset that you can use.

May. 9, 2008 | 9:34 PM Rig responds:

Hahaha... phonular.

May. 6, 2008 | 9:05 PM SNIPER says:

They have some really nice Zens or Samsungs that play video. They look pretty good.

May. 9, 2008 | 9:35 PM Rig responds:

Not too interested in video. I just want high-quality audio playback. :P

May. 8, 2008 | 5:55 PM Kr1z says:

Get a WalkMan.

Also iPod = effortless tail

May. 12, 2008 | 2:01 AM Rig responds:

Tail?

May. 10, 2008 | 10:43 PM Malachy says:

I had a 2003 iRiver iHP120 for years. now it's dead rotting away in the same drawer as my currently not dead yet electronics, a zune and some USB MP3 player...I dunno I never use my mp3 players anymore

get another iRiver, but their customer service sucks ASS. like, they stop supporting your product the minute you buy it. Even if you wanted to pay, they still don't fix out of warranty things.

But they are le awesome!

May. 12, 2008 | 2:01 AM Rig responds:

I've never had to call their customer support, so I wouldn't know. lol
Thanks for the information!

May. 11, 2008 | 10:04 PM hereforrock says:

Meh, I have an iPod, but yeah I have heard that it's pretty much inevitable that it will break soon. But it hasn't yet (2 years I think), so I'm good. I've never used anything else. But I know that Zune is pretty good. My friend has had one for like almost 6 years now, and it's in one piece and still pumpin' out music. But yeah, I don't know much about this, so I'm gonna stfu naow.

May. 12, 2008 | 2:00 AM Rig responds:

6 years? The Zune hasn't even been out that long. lol

May. 11, 2008 | 10:38 PM ronay says:

May. 12, 2008 | 2:00 AM Rig responds:
