NEW COMPUTER

Posted by Rig - February 3rd, 2009

I'M SO HAPPY!

CPU: AMD Phenom II 940 (3.6 GHz OC, stock cooler lol)
Mobo: ASUS M3A78-EM
VGA: EVGA GTX 280 Superclocked
RAM: 8GB DDR2 800
PSU: Zalman ZM750-HP 750W
HD: G.SKILL 64GB SSD
Monitors: BENQ G2400W (x2)
Case: Thermaltake Lanbox Lite

Note: I also have a 500GB external hard drive that I previously purchased.

Now I can make music without my CPU maxing out all the time! :D

NIce one. Thats gonna last a long time.

Hopefully!

That's a fantastic computer, just the processor is a piece of shit. And you really need that how much graphic horsepower if you're going to be making music. The ram is a bit of an overkill as well, unless of course, you have 10 different copies of Reason and FLs going on simultaneously.

Or Kontact. And dozens of other 32-bit 96kHz wavs. And no paging files for Windows. I'll be using about 7GB during intense sessions.

The graphics card is powerful because I wanna game as well :D

And I hope you got more then just 64GB of storage. That's about big enough to only install an os and have a few songs and files on there. Right now it's not exactly a good time to buy a SSD as they're still expensive as shit, you could of gotten a 1TB HHD for 119$ right now that is also very reliable, or bought two of them and set them up in a RAID and had even better performance than the SSD. You also might want to know that AMD has a tendency of hanging once in a while, depending on how much it over heats.

Last post typo: "And do you really need that much graphic horsepower"**

I forgot to mention that I also have a 500GB external hard drive. I was planning on getting a TB drive or two, but I couldn't afford it.

what is that oddly shaped monitor!?

Two monitors!

:D

Congrats man. Enjoy your new setup and feel great knowing how jealous I am!

mwahahaha

Congrats mate

Thanks!

*GASP* are you sure you dont want me to have that

Yeah, pretty much.

Macs are better >:P

I lol'd

never mind. I fail at reading x2. Why did you do that to it though :0!?

I have Firefox and word docs in the vertical monitor so I can see more at once. The horizontal one is used for gaming and music and other things.

i want a comp like that. i can barely run fruityloops and flash at the same time without mine crashing.

on boxing day i bought a lot of comp stuff but the only thing i didnt upgrade was my comp itself. (flatscreen monitor, wave keyboard, surround sound system)

At least it looks pretty, eh?

Awesome. Can't wait to get a new computer myself, with a big ass screen (or two). I like how one of your screens is vertical, but how does the mouse transition from one screen to another since they're not at the same resolution?

They are at the same resolution, except one's 1200x1920. The mouse transitions just fine :D

o hey since u use fuityloops what does the main automation do? i usually just ignore it and make it another pattern.

That's supposedly where you do all your even editing, but I just ignore it too ;P

shut up! you and your music machines!

lolololol

Electroacoustics! :D I should make a song with it.... Anyways i suggest you get pro tools HD and run FL in rewire mode. It would work great. And what midi keyboard is that? A novation? Or is it a trusty M-Audio?

I can't afford Protools :C

It's a KORG Kontrol49.

O and might i suggest genelec monitoring speakers? :D

Someday, someday...

Digidesign thought it was a good idea to sell protools 8 only on there website or else i could refer you to a good place to get it from a small town business with (not to advertise or anything) great prices.

So this is where the enemy kicks out the jams.

sweet rig you got goin on there...no pun intended...so wats up my n***a...hows it beem, the vent still up...i havent been able to get into it...

How much did that pretty lil thang cost ya?

That CPU of yours won't stand for long... at least with a stock cooler.
