A breath of fresh air

It's great to hear some REAL DnB on the portal for once. Great job! Good use of Hoovers, grinding bass, soft pianos, perfect background fx.

Can't wait to hear more.

oddfellowfloyd responds:

hey man, thanks for the kind words! when i can write like Concord Dawn, i'll be even happier haha! ;) what i *really* want to do is try and figure out my pro-tools/m-audio setup and lay some 7-string guitar down on some d'n'b tracks! hehe

i posted some more tracks up, check 'em out, and of course, constructive criticism is always welcome! i'm also working out a couple tracks (a happycore and a d'n'b, both with friends of mine who are laying some vocals on top! so i'm quite excited!)

peace always

Slayer?

You're right - you aren't the best at FL. But this is still a darn listenable track. You have some glisses and other nice little touches like that, but it needs more mastering. It's all at the same freakin' volume...get some crescendos happening!
More layers would be nice, too. Get some ambient stuff going on, and please please please get more drums. I'm just not feeling it.
Also, Slayer kinda sucks. :\

You're well on your way! It's a good mix, but it just needs more.

jrayteam6 responds:

Your right your right, the new version of this track has been rebuild almost from the ground up, this was my first sort of.... aggressive epic attempt, hence my pathetic 5 hour time frame. Things have come a long way since this track... but slayer.... your stepping on my game man, this is one of my original setups, and its definatley nothing to what I've done latley... just trying to redeem myself. Anways, thanks for the thoughts, I'll try to get the full version up here.

Great!

For a first song, this is awesome! You have some great melodies and chord changes going on in here. Keep it up, you can only get better :)

masterkoopa1015 responds:

thanks, and will get better :)

SOMEONE forgot to select "Wrap Remainder". -3 pts! :O
Very happy otherwise.

Distortzion responds:

lalz, i hear it now xD

wooot!

Very nice! It could've used a little more texture, like spacey kinda pads...ya know. The bass could've been more prominent as well, I felt it was lacking - especially when more things come in near the end. And compression on the drums would be awesome ;D

But nice sounds! I agree with SBB, great bass texture. Keep up the good work!

prbly you picky sob lol lol ol ol ol olololololol jk jk

:-O

This piece....rocks my socks. It rocks them hard. But it ends so suddenly! Is there a full version somewhere?

Great muted trumpet. Is that you!
Simply amazing.

sorohanro responds:

thanx for review
well, i am a trumpet player, so, yes, it's me there... not really in my best shape.
i received a fist in my mouth just one day before i recorded that... that's why it sounds so desperate :))
i put also some of my songs here:

Nice feel!

This song has some really neat sounds in it, I especially liked that watery-sounding bass. This song would be perfect for a Megaman-like sidescrolling game!

Probably the only thing that irritated me was the bass drum...it seems awfully loud. No, I don't have the bass turned up on my stereo. :-|

Overall, great work! That degree in Recording and Engineering's coming in handy, eh? I'm getting a degree in Electroacoustics, you should check it out. :-)

beatmasterJAG responds:

Haha, originally I didnt think there was enough bass for a "dance" track. I'll drop the lvl-thanks.

Electroacoustics sound really intriuging; I studied acoustics, and psychoacoustics which is really fascinating stuff.

Thanks for the heads up! And the review back!

Solid.

Well mixed and well mastered, with a great chord pattern...although I found those claps a bit loud. And that slayer synth got kinda annoying after a while. But it was a good beat. You oughta find someone to rap over this!

Keep up the collaborating! And if you want to do something together someday, don't hesitate to ask. :-D

- Rig

Para-Noid responds:

Yeah, I heard the claps. They are a bit to loud. Didn't like the slayer that much huh? Well that's to bad. I can get somebody to rap over it, if hes into it but I doubt it.

I can collab with you, just not right now.

You're not alone

Several of my songs are over the 150 mark with slim to none reviews. Just hang in there. :-)

The song is indeed very trancy. I like! Makes me want to sit in the corner with my eyes glazed over. o_O The main synth has a great tone, and those reversed voices only added to the tranciness. Good job!

RougeChocobo responds:

thanks. i didnt think i was the only one lol. Yah the voices were fun to play with. and dont have a seizure lol XD

Nice remix

It's very video-gamey, and I can tell what the original song was. But I think you could've put some more effort into it. It just seems kinda thin.

Of course, we all have our boredom-inspired songs. :-)

Overall, great remix. I can really see this being used in an animation eventually. Keep it up!

grahf677 responds:

thanks for the review...i will be more inspired next time.
